Rochester, NY October 3, 2017
RECON Ring, LLC announced today their continued support of veterans by donating a portion of their profits to the Silent Warrior Foundation to help veterans.
The donation to the Silent Warrior Foundation will be used to support veterans & their families by providing access to emergency assistance, mental health services, education, and scholarships.
A veteran owned company itself, RECON Rings designs and sells silicone wedding rings. Silicone rings are a popular safe alternative to metal wedding bands for individuals with active lifestyles.
When asked how the company decided on what charity to focus on, owner Tom Tartaglia had this to say:
“The Silent Warrior Foundation was a natural fit for us to grow with. They are engaged in making a difference, they evolved their mission to meet the actual needs of veterans, and they are 100% volunteer so we know the funds are going straight into the programs.”
A veteran himself, Thomas served 10 years in the United States Marine Corps, serving many of those years overseas, returning home to Rochester permanently in 2010.
“I know the struggles of a transitioning veteran, because I was one.” - Tom said
The concept of RECON Rings started when Tom was deployed in Iraq and witnessed an accidental ring avulsion when a fellow squad member lost his finger because he was wearing a metal wedding ring. The company was called RECON for that simple patrol mission that resulted in the loss of a finger.

About Silent Warrior Foundation
The Silent Warrior Foundation supports veterans & their families by providing access to emergency assistance, mental health services, education, and scholarships. Originally founded as the Silent Warrior Scholarship Fund, our mission was to awards scholarships to any college-bound person based on direct familial relationship to a Reconnaissance Marine/0321 or Critical Skills Operator/0372, based on academic achievement, and financial need.
Reacting to an alarming rate of veteran suicides and veterans requiring assistance, in 2017 the board decided to make a change. After listening to the military community and supporters, their mission has evolved beyond that initial focus on our veterans in need as well as provide scholarships.
